Police need help to find the two men who held up and stabbed a manager at a Sanford business, leaving the man seriously injured. The attempted armed robbery happened at Wolfy’s Lakefront Bar and Grill in Sanford Sunday morning.

Sanford Police are hoping a surveillance image from just moments before the attempted armed robbery happened will help lead them to the men responsible. Investigators say the red Honda CRV seen in the surveillance photo is the one the robbers got away from the scene in. Police say the SUV’s right-rear tire is either a spare or is missing a hubcap.

Sanford Police say the two men approached Larry Picardat, a manager at Wolfy’s bar and grill, at about 7:15 Sunday morning. They say the men directed Picardat to a safe inside the business and when Picardat refused to open the safe, one of the men stabbed Picardat several times.

Stephanie Miller has lived near Picardat for many years.

“I’ve known him since I was a little girl, and I don’t understand how anybody could do something like this because he’s such a nice person,” said Miller.

Picardat was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery on Sunday. He’s expected to survive the stabbing.

Miller works not far from Wolfy’s in downtown Sanford and says she’s worried for her own safety.

“It makes me nervous walking to my vehicle, even in the afternoon, because this happened in the morning – the sun was up – broad daylight,” said Miller.
