Lets look at the forecast for Friday and into the weekend:

  • Friday's humidity will feel like it's over 100 degrees
  • Hot, chance of more storms Friday
  • Rain chances drop over the weekend
  • TROPICS: Bye, Gert; Hello, Harvey

Temperatures Thursday afternoon were hot and humid with highs in the mid to low 90s and feeling more like triple digits. There were scattered showers and storms that dumped some heavy rain and held frequent lightning and gusty wind.

The rain wrapped up early and it will be much quieter heading into Friday morning. The end of our work week will remain hot with a chance for afternoon storms.

Partly cloudy skies are in the forecast through the overnight hours with warm temperatures. Lows will fall into the mid to upper 70s. With all of the moisture sticking around, it will be muggy as you wake up Friday morning.

Friday will hold a mix of sun and clouds, along with hot temperatures. Highs will once again climb into the mid to low 90s with humidity making it feel over a hundred degrees. After a quiet start, showers and storms will start to develop around lunchtime and continue through the afternoon.

Slightly drier air moves in this weekend, lowering rain chances. It will still be hot with a few afternoon storms.

Rain chances drop for Saturday and Sunday, and it will be really hot, highs in the mid to upper 90s.

In the tropics, Gert has now gone and Harvey has arrived.

Gert is racing northeast away from the United States as a remnant low and will have no impact on Florida.

Just east of the Lesser Antilles, Tropical Storm Harvey has developed. This storm looks to maintain tropical storm status as it moves into the southern Caribbean Sea. Early next week, Harvey may impact the Yucatan Peninsula, but it does look to stay well to the south of Florida.

Behind Harvey, there are a couple of other areas of interest with the potential for tropical formation over the next few days. If they develop, the next name on the list is Irma.

Watch for storms if heading to the beach and also for a moderate rip current risk.
