An Orlando man is accused of striking more than a dozen vehicles early Friday morning as he attempted to park his vehicle at a Davenport-area apartment complex, deputies said.

  • Driver accused of hitting 17 vehicles while parking
  • Troopers say he was under the influence
  • Driver was arrested, taken to Osceola County Jail

The incident happened just before 4 a.m. in The Gate Apartments on Calder Boulevard in Davenport, which is near the Osceola-Polk line.

Troopers responded to the apartment complex after receiving reports of a suspected drunk driver.

When troopers arrived, they determined that a 2003 Chevy Blazer, driven by 25-year-old Tony Futch, had struck 17 parked vehicles in eight different crashes.

Troopers said Futch was trying to park his vehicle while under the influence.

"He side-swiped some vehicles here and then turned and smacked into my vehicle — completely lifting my vehicle into another young lady's vehicle," Peter Thongsithavong said.

Thongsithavong's bumper was barely hanging onto his vehicle when he woke up and checked on it Friday morning. He said he will have to pay for the damage until it's determined if Futch's insurance company will provide compensation.

Futch, who refused a breathalyzer, was arrested for DUI and booked into the Osceola County Jail. Records show that Futch previously had his license suspended in 2013 for DUI.
