  • Woman told deputies she was beaten and thrown
  • She suffered severe bruising and a head injury

Roman Dusk, 65, is charged with attempted murder and arson, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation began Thursday, after the 94-year-old woman called 911 to report she had been battered.

Deputies responded to a home on Slade Drive and found the woman lying in the living room.

The woman told deputies that she and Dusk, who also lives in the home, got into a verbal argument earlier in the day. Dusk beat the woman, threw her to the ground and stomped on her chest, according to deputies. He then burned a plant inside the home, causing part of the wall to catch fire.

Dusk put the fire out but left the home without helping the woman, deputies said.

The woman told investigators it took her hours to crawl to the phone to call for help. She was taken to a hospital with severe bruising and a head injury.

Deputies performed a traffic stop after Dusk was spotted driving past the home. He was taken into custody and booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility on no bond.
