  • Noor Salman accused of aiding and abetting her husband

In a Tuesday filing to the U.S. District Court, Noor Salman's attorney claims she was suffering from PTSD either before the attack or during last year's mass shooting.

Salman "intends to present a defense 'relating to a mental disease or defect or any other mental condition of the defendant bearing on... the issue of guilt,' " the filing states.

Salman is accused of aiding and abetting her husband, Omar Mateen, who opened fire at Orlando's Pulse nightclub in June 2016, leaving 49 people dead and another 53 hurt in the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history. She has pleaded not guilty.

On Monday, a judge ruled that Salman can be evaluated by a psychologist or psychiatrist to determine her mental state.
