All 40 of their horses weren't injured after Hurricane Irma, but several of their barns were damaged.

"Most of the barns that we have are just wood that were built by the owners with metal tops and they've withstand most of the storms we've had, we've had a couple little wind storms that have blown some off but nothing to this extent," said Belinda Ripoll, a volunteer at the center.

Ripoll said the horses weren't injured because they were out in the field.

"They had the stalls to be able to go to in case they needed to but we don't lock them because of something like that did happen," she said.

Volunteers have since fixed most of the barns.

The rescue says they want to buy two hurricane safe barns.

The rescue is trying to raise $20,000 dollars for the barns. A gofundme has been set up here.
