We're also watching two other systems in the busy Atlantic.

Maria

Hurricane hunters just flew into Maria and found winds of 160 miles per hour, making this storm an extremely dangerous category 5 hurricane. The eye of Maria is located 15 miles ESE of Dominica and 40 north of Martinique.

Maria will track through the northeastern Caribbean Tuesday and then move over or very close to Puerto Rico Wednesday. A weakness in the Atlantic ridge is still expected to turn Maria to the northwest and then north by the end of the week and staying several hundred miles to our east.

We’ll need to keep a close eye on this storm, but as of now, no direct impacts for Central Florida.

Hurricane Jose’s track continues to stay well to our northeast with no direct impacts locally, aside from higher swells and hazardous seas for offshore boating.

Interests from the mid-Atlantic to New England should monitor the storm closely as they will receive impacts from Jose including wind and heavy rain, in addition to coastal erosion and hazardous ocean conditions.

Lee will have no impact to land or the continental United States as whatever is left of it moves north-northwest well out in the Atlantic.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs through Nov. 30.
