After Hurricane Irma, some people in north Marion County are still dealing with unexpected flooding.

Kay Gould says her front yard has never been flooded before and says all the water came suddenly.

"There was absolutely no water here on this property on Sunday morning and it just all of a sudden came in with a roar," said Gould.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office says the rain from Hurricane Irma raised the water levels of Orange Lake and said if the water continued to rise, residents would have had to be evacuated.

"It was very scary actually, because I was very concerned about my house. Also it got up close to the garage and would have gone in if it had come up any more," said Gould.

Authorities say Orange Lake has crested and they expect the water to recede, but will continue to monitor the lake's water levels.

Officials with St. Johns River Water Management District say water levels on Newnans and Lochloosa lakes, which are upstream of Orange, have begun to decline.
