Flagler County deputies have arrested a man accused of child abuse after a child was brought into an area hospital with a skull fracture and severe burns.

Deviaun Toler, 25, was charged Tuesday with two counts of aggravated child abuse, according to the police affidavit.

On Wednesday, the Department of Children and Families alerted deputies after a child was brought into Florida Hospital Flagler with what officials call signs up physical abuse, including a fractured skull and severe burns.

Deputies say the child’s injuries were possibly life-threatening. The child was transported to Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital for continued treatment.

Authorities determined probable cause to arrest Toler after conducting their investigation, according to a news release.

Toler is being held at Flagler County inmate facility without bond.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
