A Cape Coral man and his girlfriend are wanted after an attack at a home in Deltona on Sunday, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

  • Couple accused of attacking woman at Deltona home
  • Deputies say the man broke into his mother's home, struck sister
  • The couple fled the scene in black Jeep Wrangler

Deputies said Steven Prewitt, 46, and his girlfriend Dawn Robey, also 46, arrived at his mother’s home at 2 p.m. The couple broke into the house and attacked Prewitt’s adult sister, investigators said. The mother was not home at the time.

Prewitt’s sister told deputies she was struck multiple times on her face and body.

Prewitt also tried to choke his sister until she nearly passed out, deputies said.

Prewitt and Robey reportedly stole a handgun and an iPhone before fleeing the scene.

The mother returned home after the attack and she and her daughter went to nearby convenience store, fearing Prewitt would return.

The sister was treated for multiple lacerations and bruises by emergency responders.

Prewitt and Robey are wanted on charges of armed burglary with battery, grand theft of a firearm and false imprisonment.

They were last seen driving a black Jeep Wrangler with Florida tag number BVMF89.

The couple traveled to Lake County Sunday night, but remain at large, deputies said.

Anyone with information about Prewitt and Robey is asked to call 911.
