Across Florida Monday night, vigils were held by the Florida Parent-Teacher Association to mourn the Parkland massacre.

In Orange County, the vigil was held outside Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center.

For students, it's been a tough time.

“I am really sad, because that is someone's child. That is someone who was loved by many people,” said Lucas Cortes-Weil, a student.

Sofia Montealegre, a sixth grader, added, "I am holding a sign that says it could be me. It could be anybody honestly, anybody.”

"It's scary, it's really scary,” said another student, Paula Cortes-Weil. "There needs to be more laws about this. Yeah, ‘the right to bear arms,' Ok, fine I understand that. But their needs to be more control, not that just anyone can go in and get a gun.”

Along with students, parents are also scared.

"Listening to my son saying, ‘we cannot do anything,' and I think that is wrong. I don't want to send my kids to schools, saying, maybe today is my turn, but I cannot do anything. Maybe today is my day,” said Virginia Weil, mother.

On Wednesday, PTA groups across Florida plan to go to Tallahassee to talk to legislatures about changes that could prevent future mass shootings.
