Jonathan “Keith” Hardin, a corrections deputy, was a 10-year veteran of the agency.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey shared the news on the agency’s official Facebook page.

“Keith is well-loved and known throughout the jail complex as having a big heart, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need and someone you could always count on during challenging times,” Sheriff Wayne Ivey wrote.

Hardin was hired as a corrections deputy trainee in October 2007. In 2008 he was sworn in as a corrections deputy after graduating from the Easter Florida State College Criminal Justice Institute.

The Sheriff’s Office is working with Hardin’s family to complete final arrangements.

The crash comes on the heels of a funeral service for another Brevard deputy, Kevin Stanton, who was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 last week.
