  • Deputies say they smelled alcohol on Kristal's breath

Kristal Valenti, 38, of Palm Coast, and Robert Valenti, 42, of Bunnell, have been charged with child neglect, according to a police report.

Deputies responded to The Beer House on 616 North State Street Sunday night at 10:20 p.m. An anonymous caller reportedly told deputies that parents left their child inside a 1999 Ford truck while they were inside watching the Super Bowl.

Authorites said in a police statement that upon arrival, they found the child wandering in front of the bar unsupervised. They approached Kristal Valenti after they noticed that she sat in the truck the child was allegedly in.

Deputies said they could smell alcohol on her breath when they approached her.

Kristal said she was at the bar to meet her husband Robert Valenti to watch the Super Bowl, and that she couldn't bring her child because the bar did not allow children to be in the bar after 6 p.m.

She and Robert alleged that she would periodically go in and out of the bar to check on their child.

Another person at the bar talked to deputies and said he was concerned about the child because he saw him running toward U.S. Highway 1.

Kristal and Robert were placed under arrest at 10:54 p.m. for child neglect without great bodily harm. They were both transferred to an inmate facility.
