The incident happened on Lullwater Street, and now people who live in the community are on high alert.

Deputies say a 34-year-old man told them that three male suspects forced their way into his home after he answered a knock at a rear door.

The man said he was pistol-whipped by a suspect, who also demanded money from him. The man’s wife and children were ordered to go into a bedroom.

"I was terrified and scared for my kids," the man told the 911 dispatcher.

According to deputies, the suspects took jewelry, cash and a television.

Deputies are still investigating to find out if this home was a target or whether it was random. The victim said he didn't know the suspects.

The man was treated for the abrasion on his head but was otherwise uninjured. His wife and children were also left uninjured.

Monday a repair crew worked to fix a broken door at the family's home.

"Immediately I said, 'Oh my God, what happened around here?'" said resident Jorge Mondragon.

Mondragon has been living in the neighborhood for about four years. He said he didn't have any idea what happened next door until deputies showed up.

"When I opened the door, they asked me if I heard a noise or something, or if I heard some people crying or something, but no I didn't hear nothing," he said.

Mondragon said he ultimately hopes deputies step up patrol to keep them safe.

"Never do I see police cars patrol around here. No, never that. I wish that the police come constantly over to this neighborhood, because it's no good," Mondragon saud.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities say more information will be released as it becomes available. If you have any information on this case, you're asked to contact the sheriff's office.
