  • 2 of the airmen were stationed at Patrick AFB
  • Master Sgt. William Posch and Staff Sgt. Carl Enis

Two reserve pararescuemen that died during the crash were stationed at Patrick Air Force Base--36-year-old Master Sgt. William Posch and 31-year-old Staff Sgt. Carl Enis.

Staff Sergeant Enis served for eight years and during that time. He received multiple awards including Airman of the Year.

Master Sgt. Posch served for 18 years, creating his mark by being a part of a long-range rescue mission of two German sailors, assisting in rescues after Hurricane Harvey.

Governor Rick Scott issued a statement today saying that the loss of these service men is devastating and that he knew Enis’s family personally.

Major Cathleen Snow knew both of them and says she never expected it would be their last deployment.

“You’re never prepared to lose on of your own, it’s like a punch in the gut,” said Snow.

Pararescuers are so elite they were used to support NASA missions like recovering astronauts after water landings, according to Snow.

This upcoming week they are starting to train again.
