A sea of green flooded downtown Orlando Saturday for St. Patrick’s Day events.

The beer started flowing early at Harp and Celt Irish Pub on Magnolia Avenue in Orlando.

"It's an all day event--starts from about 10 o'clock in the morning, staff getting here, until about 4/5 in the morning, it’s a long day," said bartender Dean Buckley.

You'll see plenty of people dressed in green, but don't expect any green beer.

"Not someone that just turns into an Irish pub overnight give you green beer and then says, 'oh we're an Irish pub.' Everyday of the year we do an Irish breakfast every Sunday," said Buckley.

On Church Street, officials say thousands had pre-registered for free green beer for their annual St Patrick's Day block party.

"We're expecting from 7 to 10 o'clock around 2,000 and we’ll be at capacity probably by midnight around 35 hundred," said Joel Martin Sanchez with Church Street Entertainment.

Irish Shannon's opened on Church Street last April.

"We’re very excited to have Irish Shannon's on their first St. Patricks Day and we're looking forward to more years like that," said Sanchez.
