A transformer has exploded at Progress Energy's Crystal River power plant.

The explosion happened in Unit 1 shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday.

No one was hurt in the explosion.

In addition, Progress Energy said the explosion happened at the coal-powered plant, not the nuclear plant.

However, the fire has reportedly given off a lot of smoke. Multiple emergency vehicles were called to the scene.

Officials said the explosion did not affect the plant's ability to generate electricity.
