  • He was 39 and had been at the theme park for 20 years
  • SeaWorld said his health had been declining

Bruiser’s health had been declining the past several weeks, SeaWorld said. He had experienced kidney failure.

Veterinarians and animal care teams were monitoring him around the clock, the park said.

The 39-year-old walrus was considered old. Most walruses live to be 40 years old, according to SeaWorld.

“We know that Bruiser will be remembered for the millions of guests he inspired to learn and care about walruses, and by the team members that had the honor of working with him,” SeaWorld said in a Facebook post.

Bruiser had been at SeaWorld Orlando for 20 years.
