  • Cirque show 'La Nouba' bowing out Dec. 31
  • New show will highlight Disney animation

Walt Disney World shared the announcement Monday on the official Disney Parks Blog.

A name for the show was not released. However, according to the blog post, the show will pay homage to Disney’s “rich history of animation.”

The project extends Disney’s longtime collaboration with Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, which will create the show.

“We are incredibly inspired by Disney’s immense creative universe,” said Daniel Lamarre, president and CEO of Cirque du Soleil. “We are convinced that bringing Disney’s magic to life on stage will touch audiences and bring them back to their childhood.”

No word yet on when the new production will debut.

It replaces “La Nouba,” which ends its almost 20-year run on Dec. 31.
