A new attraction on Florida’s Space Coast is boasting something new for the area, something you can’t find anywhere else in the Sunshine State.

  • Drive a tank at Melbourne's Tank America
  • There are 3 tanks to choose from
  • After tank experience, you can play laser tag

Tank America, Melbourne’s newest attraction, is something you may have seen in the movies.

"There is no other way to describe it. You are basically going into the scenes you’ve seen from movies and video games and you get to do it for real," Joshua Haufle, a tank commander at the attraction, said.

Josh should know, a stint in the Army put him in charge of repairing and driving monster tanks.

It’s not so much work as it is fun now though and Tank America makes sure of that.

"My tank enthusiast kids to adults who have had this one their bucket list, this is an opportunity for them to check this off. It's so adrenaline packed," co-owner of Tank America Mark Nyquist said.

So take your pick of three different tanks you can explore and ride, all from different eras dating back to the 1950’s.

Plus, there’s even a chance to drive one.

You better believe I got behind the wheel and I can attest it’s not as easy as you might think.

It’s a bit like driving stick shift, but the only difference is that these tanks weigh in close to 16 tons.

They can do some heavy damage as you drive along the nearly mile-long trail full of hills, water, and mud pit obstacles.

You even get to do some hard-core car demolition, using the tank to take out old cars back in the yard.

Once you hop off the tank the adventure doesn’t stop here. There’s 7,000 square feet of fun waiting inside the building.

“It’s unique. Every game is unique,” Josh explained.

Inside is a state of the art laser tag themed war zone awaits visitors. It will take you through 10 themed rooms that simulate an Afghani village that will provide players with realistic lights, sounds, and equipment.

The arena and tank adventure is something you won’t find anywhere else in the state, making for a once in a lifetime experience

"I really hope people will appreciate these vehicles, to let them experience something very few people ever get to actually do," Josh said.

Each tank driving experience lasts around 3 and a half hours. Those package prices start at around $350.
