The Everglades open up to a world of unique plants, wildlife and ecosystems. In this week's Florida on a Tankful, we headed to a spot on the swamps where you can experience all of it.

Welcome to South Florida’s oldest park, the Everglades Alligator Farm, where you'll be right along side the action.

You'll find the farm's experienced trainers bonding with the farm’s more than 2,000 alligators on a daily basis. Leading everything from feeding demonstrations to actually wrestling these monsters.

"Alligators are something you certainly need to respect but not necessarily be afraid of," longtime tour guide and trainer Luke Kuhn said.

The farm's mission is to help people overcome some fears. Workers like Kuhn will allow you to hold everything from baby alligators starting at age 2 to their older and larger one. You can even schedule sessions to wrestle these amazing beasts.

You'll of course have time to find these creatures in a more natural setting. The farm's tour guides will fire up the airboats for a sweep through the Everglades. Even giving guests a bit of a thrill with 360-degree turns through the grasslands.

"There are really not many places in Florida you can just find endless grass lands and shallow water like this," Kuhn said.

For those especially daring guests, you can even step outside the boat and trek through parts of the swamps on the farm's private-guided tours.

"If you're looking for an adventure and something to take you outside your comfort zone and do something you just can't do everyday, this is definitely for you," he said.

Everglades Alligator Farm is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For pricing and tour packages, head to the farm's website.
