The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announced Friday the 2018-2019 Fairwinds Broadway in Orlando season, which features "Hamilton" and "Anastasia."

  • "Hamilton" will perform early next year
  • Other shows include "Hello Dolly!" and "Fiddler on the Roof"

Lin Manuel Miranda's hit musical about founding father Alexander Hamilton will play for a three-week engagement from Jan. 22-Feb. 10, 2019. "Hamilton" won 11 Tony Awards in 2016, including best musical.

The musical is the most prominent entry in the 2018-2019 lineup that also includes "Hello Dolly!" and "Fiddler on the Roof."

The season opens with "Jersey Boys" (Oct. 30 – Nov. 4, 2018), the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. It is followed by the box office sensation "Hello, Dolly! (Nov. 27-Dec. 2, 2018) The musical won a 2017 Tony Award for best musical revival.

Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" (Dec. 18-23, 2018) opens in time for the holiday season. The musical, filled with dancing and lots of snow, tells the story of a song-and-dance team putting on a show at a Vermont inn.

Up next is "Hamilton", which features a score that blends hip-hop, rap, jazz and R&B, in musical numbers such as "Helpless" and "Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story." The Broadway sensation offers a fast-paced glimpse at the short life of the nation's first treasury secretary.

Other musicals in the lineup include "Fiddler on the Roof" (March 5-10, 2019), "Dear Evan Hansen" (April 16-21, 2019), "Anastasia" (May 14-19, 2019) and "Come From Away" (June 11-16, 2019).

Demand is, unsurprisingly, expected to be high for "Hamilton." The Dr. Phillips Center previously announced that 2017-2018 Broadway series subscribers would get first crack at buying tickets if they renewed.
