The Orlando Magic have other basketball business to keep them busy other than the Dwight Howard saga like evaluating their recent draft picks.

First Round draft pick Andrew Nicholson turned heads after a hitting the game-winning shot during the opening game of the NBA Pro Summer League and didn’t slow do after that.  The 19th overall pick made the AirTran Airways All-Summer League First Team averaging 12.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

The week-long event also allowed Second Round draft pick Kyle O’Quinn to display his muscle down low.  The 6-foot-10 rookie out of Norfolk State made Second Team on 8.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest.

Despite a 94-73 loss to the Boston Celtics on the final day of competition, both players soaked up the experience.

“You learned a lot of players and you play with veteran guys like Justin Harper and DeAndre Liggins,” said O’Quinn.  Harper and Maalik Wayns were honorable mentions.  “You get so much help from the coaching staff, you feel like they’re on your side.  That helps our confidence too.  It’s not just getting shots.”
