The new Average Angler season will start in March with a stringer full of episodes sure to tantalize a wide variety of tastes. There’s plenty of offshore action as we kick off the season with a trip to hunt down African Pompano with Rich MacNeil! This was a new fish to add to my log and I had never heard of them being regular enough in the area to be targeted. But 20 miles out on a mild winter day, Rich proved there were plenty of this species to go around as well as a slew of other bait takers including hogfish and mangos! Following up on that adventure, the AA crew heads to Port Tampa to solve the mystery of Picnic Island in a revealing 2 part Secrets Of The Bay!! Another thought provoking story in the lineup includes possible Great Whites cruising off our shoreline with a whopper caught right off Long Boat key not too far in the distant past! Of course, shooting in the dead of winter is sure to bring a healthy dose of sheepshead fishing if we can get the herd to cooperate as well as a surprise catch at night off the St. Pete Pier! Freshwater anglers won’t be left behind as this stringer of episodes will also include a pan-fish mini-series from the land of sweet water. Finishing out the spring season might also include mingling in the shallows with some sizable ornery bulls from the safety of a couple of plastic kayaks. I say “might” because the sharks haven’t signed the TV contract yet! Fishin’ folks, join us on our 12th go around this March for a stringer full of angling adventures from BHSN’s Average Angler Show!!!
