It just wasn't Academy of the Holy Names' night.

The Jaguars' bus broke down on the way to pick up the team for Wednesday's game, while the team's lead-off hitter Julie Schifino suffered an ankle injury during pre-game infield practice.

Not to mention, the Tampa Catholic Crusaders decided to bring out the big bats for the Bright House Sports Network Subway Restaurants Game of the Week.

The Crusaders pounded three homeruns, including a grand slam, to knock down the Jaguars 13-5. Tampa Catholic entered the game with just one long shot all season.

Holy Names scored first in the top of the 1st inning off an Anya Muyres RBI single driving in Taylor Gee to make it 1-0 Jaguars.

Then Tampa Catholic broke out the sticks in the bottom of the 1st. A 3-run home run off the BHSN truck in center field by Kimberly Rogers, her second of the year, gave the Crusaders a 3-1 lead. Rogers added another home run in the bottom of the 5th.

In the bottom of the 3rd, Leah Vail crushed a grand slam for her first home run of the year blowing the game open early on.

Senior Cassie Pesce was the winning pitcher for Tampa Catholic on senior night. She improves to 7-1 this season.

Holy Names drops to 13-3, while Tampa Catholic improves to 12-5.  Both teams end their district schedule with a 5-1 record in 4A District 9.
