The Gulf softball team didn't have the easiest road to a district title, but at the end of the day, the Buccaneers got the result they wanted.

Catcher Nikki Sedivy blasted two homeruns and had five RBIs as the Buccaneers captured the 5A District 8 Championship over Pasco 8-1 on Friday night at Zephyrhills High School.

The Buccaneer's Madison Morlan was solid on the mound going 6.2 innings, while allowing just one run.

Trailing 1-0 in the 4th, Gulf's Hanna McCarthy launched 2-run double in the 4th to give her team a 2-1 lead. The Bucs would add two more runs in the 5th to make it 4-1.

The Pirates kept the game within reach until the top of the 7th.

Rachel Gardner dropped in an RBI single to make it 5-1 and then Sedivy crushed her 2nd homerun of the night to seal Gulf's first district crown in school history.

The Buccaneers will host Tavares on Wednesday in the 5A Regional Quarterfinals, while Pasco will travel to Hernando.
