.Academy of the Lakes has had a flair for the dramatic, as of late.

Less than a week ago, the Wildcats enjoyed a come-from-behind, walk-off win in the regional semifinals. Monday, they again showed their comeback skills en route to setting history, 9-3, over Munroe in the Class 2A regional finals at Live Oak Park.

The Wildcats punched their ticket to the state final four for the first time.

And they can thank the Boynton sisters for that.

Sydney Boynton stuck out eight batters, including six of the final seven she faced, and knocked in four runs at the plate. Her little sister, Skyler, drove in two runs as well.

Munroe jumped on the Wildcats early with three runs in the first inning, two of them on errors. Academy at the Lakes took advantage of some sloppy defense by the Bobcats, scoring two runs off a dropped pop fly in the bottom of the third, cutting the lead to 3-2.

Then came the big inning for the Wildcats.

Sparked by a hit by pitch and two errors, the Wildcats had the bases loaded for Skyler Boynton, who drove a pitch into left-center field to plate two runs, giving them the lead for good. Catherine Smith drove in a run on a fielder's choice, then Sydney Boynton added another run on an RBI double.

USF commit Lauren Evans was intentionally walked in three-straight at-bats before knocking in a run in the 6th inning on a triple.

Evans' team will face Canterbury, the 2011 state champs, in the 2A state semifinals on 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Vero Beach Sports Village.
