They have speed.

They have power.

They also have the two most essential elements in playing baseball-pitching and catching.

They are the Temple Terrace Pony All-Stars, recently crowned Southeast Regional Champions by dominating teams from Forest Hills, North Tampa and Skyway. The team is comprised of young athletes preparing to enter high school or one year in. Les Thompson coaches the All-Stars and says success from this group of kids has been no accident.

"We were young last year when we came in as 13 year olds," Thompson said. "We actually went into Miami for a regional with nine players. When one got hurt, we couldn't overcome that. But we played great baseball and the experience has helped us this year."

The team is led by the power hitting of Garrett Thompson but also relies heavily on Jake West, Jon-Jon Moore, Joshua Mendoza, Jermaine White and Casey Moore.

The Texas tournament begis August 1st and concludes August 5th. If Temple Terrace takes care of business in the lone star state, they will advance to the Pony World Series in Washington, Pennsylvania.
