Rick Rodgriguez was having flashbacks.

Largo’s head coach couldn’t help but gaze up at the scoreboard, up 20-6 in the fourth quarter of Friday’s game against Lakewood.

He’d been here before.

Back in 2008, Rodriguez’s Packers held a 21-6 lead over Lakewood, only to see the Spartans score 26 points in the final frame to win 32-24. Rodriguez’s defense made sure that didn’t happen again.

Behind Frankie Hernandez’s 15 tackles and the team's five forced turnovers, the Packers (4-1) kept the Spartans out of the end zone, holding on for the 20-6 win. Lakewood (3-2) couldn’t convert on three possessions in the red zone in the fourth quarter.

Jarvis Stewart carried – literally – the offense for Largo. The USF commit racked up 41 carries, over 180 yards rushing and two touchdowns in the win.
