After a slow start, the Lakewood Spartans came alive in the second half to take down the Palmetto Tigers, 20-13, on the Bright House Sports Network Game of the Week.

After a 35-minute rain delay, it was clear both teams would need some time to get going, as they combined for just 110 yards of offense in the first half. The game went into halftime scoreless, with Palmetto managing just 10 yards of offense in the first quarter. Lakewood had the best chance to score, but fumbled on the two-yard line in the 2nd quarter.

Lakewood would strike first in the second half on a 13-yard touchdown run from Romello Presely, after a Palmetto fumble. Palmetto would quickly answer on a nice screen play to WR Brian Waiters from QB Sean Allison. After Palmetto missed the extra point, Lakewood led 7-6.

On the next possession, Palmetto DB Broddrick Waters intercepted Lakewood's Jocqui Ellison, setting up RB Josh Hicks for a stunning 87-yard touchdown run to give Palmetto their first lead at 13-7. Hicks would finish the night with 113 yds and a TD.

Lakewood QB Ryan Davis took over in the fourth quarter. He hit Ellison for a nine-yard touchdown, reclaiming the lead, 14-13. He would later put the game away with a 32-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter. The Spartans would go on to win 20-13.
