Lake Gibson dominated the second and third quarters en route to a 24-20 non-district win over Largo on Friday night.

Braves quarterback Casey Whittaker threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in the victory.

Whittaker threw a scoring pass to Donald Parham with time expiring in the first half to make the score 10-7 Braves at the break.

In the third, Whittaker scored on a 20-yard keeper to make it 17-7 going into the fourth.

Largo cut the lead to 17-14 on a Donavan Hale strike to Jonathan Crawford, but Lake Gibson responded when Whittaker connected with Thomas Boles for the clinching score.

The Packers added on another score in the final minute on a Hale rushing touchdown.

Lake Gibson improved to 7-1 on the season and play Sebring next week where a win will lock up a playoff spot in Class 6A-11.

Largo falls to 4-4 in the loss, but they can also clinch a playoff berth if they beat district opponent Dixie Hollins next Friday night.
