The 10th ranked Viera Hawks defeated the Space Coast Vipers 40-21 in Brevard County high school football action on Friday night.

Junior wide receiver Tre Nixon caught three touchdown passes from junior quarterback Hayden Kingston for the Hawks (9-0). Kingston also threw a scoring pass to senior Devin Nixon. Junior running back Zack Blanch carried the ball 20 times for 138 yards and a touchdown.

The Vipers (5-4) were led by sophomore receiver Jason Browning who had 127 yards and two scores.

The Hawks learned after the game that they had clinched the first district championship in school history thanks to Melbourne defeating Martin County 28-14.
