It was a straight set sweep for Coach Perri Hankins and her Lakewood Ranch Mustangs in the 7A regional quarterfinal. The #5 Mustangs squared off against the East Lake Eagles in the first round of the FHSAA Volleyball playoffs.

Lakewood Ranch came out strong taking the first two sets with a score of 25-13. Stars Kahlee York (13 Kills, 1 Block) and BHSN Player of the Game Nicole Grant (14 Kills, 3 Blocks, 1 Ace) were ferocious at the net, overpowering the Eagles defenders.

East Lake came alive in set 3, eventually taking the lead behind a push from Sophomore MB Danielle Ballou (6 Kills, 1 Block). It was the best the Eagles had looked all night and with the score tied 23-23 they had the momentum to take the set from the Mustangs. But Lakewood Ranch would take the 24-23 lead and a huge spike from Shelby Dollwet would claim the victory for the Mustangs.
