This time, there would be no silver medals for Sierra Brooks.

The Lake Mary Prep junior who finished as an individual and team runner-up the last two years, led the Griffins to their first ever state championship Wednesday afternoon in the 1A state tournament at Mission Inn Resort.

Brooks, a Florida commit, shot 72 in the final round to post a total of 4-under 140 and claim the individual title by four shots over Circle Christian's Abbey Carlson. Brooks was the only player in the field to break par.

Lake Mary Prep, which entered the day with a six stroke advantage over Circle Christian, extended their lead thanks to a 1-under 71 from Dree Fausnaugh, the lone senior in the Griffins lineup.

Freshman Amy Zhang ended at 5-over 149 to give Lake Mary Prep three of the top six finishers.

The Griffins finished three strokes behind champ Circle Christian at last year's state tournament, but this season it was the Centurions that accepted the runner-up trophy.

First Academy ended a banner season by taking third place. Sophomore Morgan Baxandale paced the Royals with back-to-back rounds of 3-over 75.

Baxandale's teammate Courtney Zeng and Gaby Coello of Windermere Prep finished one shot behind Baxandale in a tie for eighth.

The top Bay Area finisher was Cambridge's Alison Armstrong, who carded 81 in the final round to post 11-over 153.
