With each  turnover Friday night the Southeast Seminoles watched there playoff hopes slip away as they fell to Booker High 22-14 in the class 5A-District 13 match up.

"We shot ourselves in the foot tonight, you can't beat anyone when you have six turnovers," Seminoles head coach John Warren said.

The loss knocked Southeast from playoff contention, while Booker (5-3) secured the 5A-13 runner-up spot.

"We had a chance, just couldn't pull it out," Seminoles head coach John Warren said. "I am proud of my guys for fighting though, six turnovers and still had a shot to win."

Booker high cornerback Vince Sellers intercepted James Thomas twice on the night, the first one resulting in a pick six that shifted the momentum to Booker.

"That really hurt us, we had a great kick off return for a touchdown called back on a penalty then threw the pick six," coach Warren said.

Things got a bit chippy in the third quarter resulting in a few ejections.

"It's a rivalry, my kids wouldn't back down and neither would theirs," coach Warren said.

Bookers defense was suffocating, only allowing seven points in the second half.

Tornadoes punter Cody Deserio pinned Southeast back to the 4-yard line with 2:42 left in the fourth quarter.

"Cody was clutch for us, he had a few solid punts that helped our defense lock in and keep them from gaining momentum," Booker head coach Recharde Goodwyn said.

Down 20-13 with 2:21 left in the fourth quarter, Tornado's defensive end Damon Golden got a sack that resulted in a safety.

After a quick four and out for the Tornadoes, Southeast (1-8) had one last chance, but weren't able to convert.

"We just couldn't get into a rhythm, you have to credit Booker and their defense tonight," coach Warren said.
