This mini-series took us all over the state in search of the many species of panfish found in Florida and it took some time to educate ourselves on species identification and what to look for when targeting them. After a lot of research and some advice from experienced panfish anglers we were confident we could pull it off, so we set off in search of fish. Six months later after hundreds of miles on the road traveling to various locations, we completed our five part mini-series 'The Great Panfish Expedition.'

While panfish can be considered small compared to most species anglers target here in Florida, they are great fighters for their size, which is great fun on light tackle, and they make great tablefare. Whether you're looking to kill some time on a lazy afternoon, looking for some fish for dinner or just want to take the kids fishing, the panfishing here in Florida is easy and a lot of fun for the whole family. You don't even need a boat or kayak to do so, just locate a pond, creek, lake or river nearby and go wet line!
