Robinson ran into the wall that is Bishop Kenny at the 5A state volleyball semifinals.

The Knights succumbed to the 11th ranked team in the nation in three sets (25-11, 25-12, 25-15). But before they were done, Robinson made things interesting.

Both teams were making return appearances to the state tournament and it looked like Bishop Kenny was well on its way to the title game. But after the Crusaders easily won both first sets, Robinson made them work for it in the third set. The Knights led early in the third set, with five-straight points giving them their longest point streak of the match. An 8-1 run, that included back-to-back kills by Tyson McKenna, helped Robinson take a 9-3 lead.

But just like that, Bishop Kenny stormed back with seven-consecutive points to take the lead for good and sweep the Knights.

Robinson didn’t have any players in double-digit kills. Bishop Kenny had two – Nadine Williams (16) and Denvyr Tyler-Palmer (12). Emily Draper led the Knights with a match-high 16 digs.

Bishop Kenny will play Merritt Island, winners over Sunlake, in the 5A title game LIVE on BHSN Friday at 5 p.m.
