State swimming wrapped up Saturday with the Class 1A competition, otherwise known as the Bolles Invitational.
Lake Highland Prep looked to make a splash of their own, and they did.

The Highlanders girls took home individual gold medals in the 200 IM, Carley Lowe, and the 500 Free, Katie Duggan. Lake Highland Prep also got some big points from Abby Burke’s silver in the 200 Free and a bronze in the 100 Free.

Academy at the Lakes Abbey Duncan won her second-consecutive gold medal. Last year she won it in the 200 Free. This year, she won the 100 Backstroke.
On the boys side, the Lake Highland Prep boys didn’t want to be outdone by the girls. They won bronze in the 200 and 400 Free relays. Individually, the Highlanders Joshua Monacelli won the silver in the 100 Backstroke.

Those points helped Lake Highland Prep’s boys finish third overall. The Lake Highland girls had secured third overall as well, but a clerical error disqualified them from the 400 Free Relay and knocked them to fourth.

Bolles boys won their 27th-consecutive overall title, while the girls won their 24th straight.

Other top area finishes: Trinity Prep’s girls won the bronze in the 200 Medley Relay; Clearwater Central Catholic’s Cameron Newton won bronze in the 200 Free; Trinity Prep’s Claire Maiocco won the bronze in the 50 Free and silver in the 100 Butterfly; Montverde Academy’s Katie Schorr won silver in the 100 Free; Montverde girls won silver in the 200 Free Relay and bronze in the 400 Free Relay; CCC’s boys won the silver in the 200 Free Relay; Tampa Prep’s Savannah Savitt won the bronze in the 100 Breaststroke; Shorecrest Prep’s Joshua Chen won the bronze in the 100 Breaststroke.

Berkeley’s boys team got points help from sophomore Jesse Potts (fifth) and Hugo Rapp (sixth) in the one-meter diving event to help them finish fourth overall.
