Jesuit's season was slipping away.

They trailed Spoto by two points with less than a minute left in the Class 5A-Region 3 semifinal game. Then quarterback Trent Wessel hit Kevin Newman down the Tigers sideline for a 40-yard touchdown to give Jesuit an 18-14 lead with 57 seconds remaining in the game.

The Spartans had one final series to come back, but Jesuit linebacker Nick Mosco had other plans. Mosco came up with a big tackle for a loss on second down and then recovered the game-clinching fumble for an 18-14 Tigers win.

Jesuit will travel to take on Bishop Moore for the regional championship.

Spoto had all of the momentum before Jesuit stole it late in the game. The Spartans took the lead in the third quarter when Todd Sims broke off a 45-yard touchdown run. They increased their lead to 14-6 when Kevin Hobley connected with Jesse Holmes for the five-yard TD.
