The Seminole Warhawks came into the BHSN Holiday tournament as possibly the top team in the tournament and didn’t disappoint as they defeated Orlando Freedom, 73-39. Great shooting from Seminole’s T.J. Frounfelter, as he made 58% (7-for-12) of shots attempted as well as 50% (5-for-10) of threes attempted, finishing with 21 points.

The Warhawks pulled ahead early, jumping out to a 31-18 lead at the half. Along with Frounfelter, Seminole was paced by junior Marco Behori with19 points and Duncan Demuth with 10 points. Lorenzo Gulley was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up eight rebounds and two steals to go along with 13 points. Seminole improves to 10-1 on the season while the Patriots from Orlando Freedom fall to 4-8.

In the second game, the host Clearwater Tornados used a late spark from sophomore Gene Culver to knock off the Alonso Ravens, 68-59. The Tornados fell behind at halftime, 32-27 but used a 21-point 4th quarter to secure the victory. Senior Ryan Ierna added a solid performance chipping in 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Alonso was led by juniors Terance Brown (14 pts) and Jawaun Stuckey (19 pts) and sophomore Robert Gadsen III (10 pts, 10 reb). Clearwater improves to 7-3 in the 2014-15 campaign while Alonso falls to 3-9.

The final game proved to be the best matchup as the Dunnellon Tigers used an 11-2 run in the third quarter to overcome the Sharks from Nature Coast. Senior Andre Hairston led the Tigers with 18 points and 6 rebounds while Desmond Frazier chipped in 17 points and grabbed 2 rebounds.
The Sharks were led by senior Joey Dudek’s 24 points but could not stop the Tigers as Dunnellon poured in 39 points in the second half to knock off the Sharks. Dunnellon improves to 8-4 on the season, while the Sharks look to regroup after dropping both games in the BHSN Holiday Shootout and watch their record fall to 9-3.
