The Steinbrenner boys and Wharton girls dominated at Wharton High School Wednesday winning the Class 4A District 6 track and field championships.  

The Wharton girls had the meet team title clinched with two events to go.  The Wildcats scored 179 points.  Steinbrenner (155.5), Freedom (110), Alonso (96.5), Wiregrass Ranch (64) and Sickles (37) followed.  

The Steinbrenner boys won with 211 points.  Freedom (129), Alonso (99), Wharton (95), Sickles (77) and Wiregrass Ranch (42) placed second through sixth.  

Wharton freshman Bryanna Rivers turned in one of the more impressive individual efforts on the day.  Rivers won the 1600 M, 800 M and was part of Wharton's winning 4 X 800 M relay.

In the boys 4 X 400 relay, Freedom came from behind on the last lap to beat Wharton and defend their district title from last year.  The team of LJ Davis, Anthony Hendry, Rashod Monts, and Abdowlaye Ba are also the defending regional champions in the event.
