The Berkeley Prep football team turned a 7-0 halftime lead into a solid 28-7 win Thursday in their spring football game against Indian Rocks Christian.

The Buccaneers scored first in the second quarter when quarterback Brad Mayes threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to his back-up quarterback and wide receiver Cade Weldon. The two also connected in the fourth quarter on a 49-yard scoring strike.  Weldon had five receptions for 127 yards and two touchdowns.  Mayes threw for 238 yards with three TD passes.

Despite two second quarter Buc interceptions they only lead by seven at halftime.

With 1:50 to play in the third quarter Indian Rocks Christian came within one score.  Garrett Ross Johnson hit his tight end Sam Veltman with a touchdown pass.  That pulled the Golden Eagles within seven at 14-7.

However, Berkeley Prep scored 14 unanswered points from there.
