With six straight trips to the final four and three state titles in the past four years, the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders have built a lacrosse dynasty in Central Florida.

The Highlanders defeated the Benjamin Buccaneers 9-2 in the championship game Saturday night.

In their first trip to the state finals, the Buccaneers struck first on a goal by senior attacker Jeremy Stauffer.

After a slow start, the Highlanders took over. Junior middle Reid Thedford rattled off three goals before halftime. Don Eidson added another goal to give LHP a 4-2 lead heading into the half.

Connor Aniello added a power play goal and regular strength goal and Will Wolfson helped the Highlanders stretch the lead to 7-2.

The FBC Mortgage player of the game was LHP senior goalkeeper Adam Sawicki. Sawicki had eight saves on 18 shots and allowed no goals in the second half.
