When the Minnesota Twins selected Olympia High School SS Nick Gordon with the fifth overall selection in the 2014 MLB Draft, it was evident it would be a big weekend for both Central Florida and Tampa Bay high school baseball prospects.
Gordon was the first of three Central Florida seniors to be selected in the first 35 picks. First Academy's Foster Griffin (Kansas City, 28th) and Orangewood Christians Forrest Wall (Colorado, 35th) soon followed.
