LARGO - The Largo Packers came into Thursday night's preseason action looking to defend their home turf.  And that's exactly what they did.

Taking on Dunedin in the first game of a round-robin style tournament, Largo struck first on a fake punt on fourth down.  Quarterback Donavan Hale pulled down the ball and looked up field.  It didn't take long for the senior QB to find teammate Jonathon Crawford cutting down the right side.  Hale spiral slipped between a pair of defenders and into Crawford's grasp, as the senior wide receiver pulled it down and sprinted down the field for a touchdown.

Largo continued their success in the second half when Hale scrambled from the 10 yard-line into space and then flipped it to Dakari Allen who darted into the endzone for the score, giving the Packers a 14-0 lead.

With time winding down in the game, Dunedin QB Argi Radani pulled his team back within a score when he found Andrew Gordon deep down the left side of the field.  Towering over the opposing cornerback, Gordon pulled the ball down and danced into the endzone to make it 14-7.  But that's how the game would finish with the Packers on top.

The second game featured Dunedin and Pinellas Park.  The game remained scoreless until the final few minutes when Pinellas Park's Nick Hernandez came up with a big play on defense.  The junior linebacker scooped up a fumble and ran it back nearly 70-yards to put the Patriots up 6-0 with time running out.  But again, Dunedin would respond with quarterback Argi Radani and receiver Andrew Gordon.  This time the pair connected on a shorter pass, but the results were the same. Gordon easily pulled down the catch and trotted in for a touchdown relatively untouched to tie the game at 6-6.

With the game on the line, the falcons simply needed an extra point to win the game.  However, the Pinellas Park defense came up big once more to block it, ending the game in a 6-6 tie.

That all effectively set up a championship matchup between Largo and Pinellas Park.  Much like their first game, Largo struck first with a Hale pass to Crawford on the right side for a 10-yard score and a 7-0 lead.

The Patriots would respond with a short run on 4th and goal from Oscee Calhoun.  The senior runningback would attempt to convert a 2-point conversion following the score, but was kept out of the endzone on the 1-yard line.

With time winding down in the game, Pinellas Park made one last ditch effort to win the game, but a long pass sailed into the hands of Crawford who took it back deep into Patriots territory and sealed the win for Largo, 7-6.
