What do you get when you take 10 high school football coaches and throw them into a room with legendary Coach Jon Gruden?

One thing you get is a better understanding of the trials and tribulations high school football coaches face on a daily basis.

Gruden has been reaching out to prep coaches the past couple of seasons by providing them with needed funds for their programs. This season, Gruden upped the ante and provided BHSN an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Fired Football Coaches Association (FFCA) headquarters.

Chamberlain’s Cam Jones, Hillsborough’s Earl Garcia, Jefferson’s Jeremy Earle, Lakewood’s Cory Moore, Oak Ridge’s Elijah Williams, Sickles’ Brian Turner, South Sumter’s Inman Sherman, Tampa Bay Tech’s Jayson Roberts, Wekiva’s Kennard Lang and Winter Haven’s Charlie Tate got the special invites.

Gruden called each coach and personally invited them to spend some time at the FFCA office. Coach Earle got his phone call while he was shopping at Walmart with his two boys who were testing out baseball bats. Coach Moore thought it was one of his players pulling a prank and hung up on Gruden.

It was no joke.

Gruden didn’t just want to hand over a check to the coaches. He wanted to spend some time with them in his “man cave.” They talked X’s and O’s. They talked about the difficulties and hurdles their jobs present.

And then Gruden put them on the grease board.

You can see it all this football season. Every week, tune into the BHSN Game of the Week for halftime segments featuring Gruden and high school football coaches from the Tampa Bay and Central Florida area.
