Plant senior running back Patrick Brooks brought back some great memories Friday night. Memories of James Wilder.

Brooks rushed for 285 yards and five touchdowns, tying Wilder’s single game school record, in the Panthers 44-7 victory over Tampa Bay Tech.

"James Wilder? James Wilder? Oh yeah, I remember him. He was pretty good," Plant coach Robert Weiner said jokingly. "But Patrick is pretty darn good too.

"He was spectacular."

With Florida Gators head coach Will Mushchamp watching from the Titans sideline, Brooks rambled into the end zone on runs of 16, 55, 81, 11 and 1. The one-yard score was set up by a 78-yard run from Brooks to give Plant first-and-goal.

Tampa Bay Tech’s lone score was the result of a wild play where senior athlete Deon Cain tipped a pass into the hands of sophomore wide receiver Daquon Green, who finished off the play for a 59-yard touchdown.

But the Titans defense didn’t have an answer for Brooks and Plant’s powerful offensive line.
