Peyton Walker is leading the way for Seffner Christian to return to the 3A state championship game—this time to win it. The Crusaders senior forward has been on a tear this season averaging nearly a double-double, 17 points and 8 rebounds.

Walker, a Wofford signee, reached a major milestone that helped cement her high school career by scoring her 2,000th career point in a win over Trinity Catholic.

“I had like no idea I was even close,” she said. “My dad he told me I was pretty close to it and I’m like, ‘ok cool’.”

Head coach Greg Fawbush believes Walker’s biggest strength is her ability to score. Walker is on pace to be the school’s all-time leading scorer and her accomplishments at Seffner Christian put her in elite company.

“Tesha Hanson played here and was a 2,000 point scorer with her. Sabrina Whiting was a 2,000 point scorer, Fawbush said. “It’s remarkable that she’s been able to keep continuing to score 2,000 points.”

Walker had an incredible stretch of basketball, scoring 71 points in three games...all of which helped her Crusaders notch a trio of wins. The senior said it's all in preparation for another shot at a state championship.

“Going into this year I knew I had to do certain things in order for us to win, in order for us to build as a team so we can get to the state championship and win it,” Walker admits.

The good news is she doesn’t have to do it alone. The Crusaders added some new pieces that they believe will help Seffner Christian’s bid for its first ever state girls basketball title.
