The push to playoffs continues for the Orlando City Soccer Club with a comeback win against New York FC at the Citrus Bowl Friday night.

Fans are excited about being so close to making the playoffs in the team’s first season in Major League Soccer.

“This is awesome because we are a family and we enjoy together and this is the best," said Orlando City Soccer Club Fan Jennifer Stein.

Jennifer and her husband Jeff are die-hard fans and members of the Ruckus supporters club.

“Ever since the very beginning, they’ve been so open and welcoming," said Jeff Stein. That’s exactly how they make you feel. It's a big family, from the very first game and hopefully this isn’t the last one this season."

Orlando City Soccer Club's playoff hopes are still alive, after the 2 to 1 victory against New York City FC.

Fans said they’re excited about the team’s future following its first season in the MLS.

“We’re an expansion and when you look at expansion teams in other sports around the country, typically you don’t see a team in the playoff hunt like we are at this point in the season. So that makes it all the more exciting," said fan Ben Leesman.

More than 43,000 fans attended the final home match of the regular season, which was the team’s second largest crowd, behind the team’s historic home opener back in March.

“We’re going to win next week and Montreal is going to lose the next two games. We’re going to be just fine," said Josh Patten, who has season tickets.

“Look at this, this is our fan base out here, we’re supporting this group. We’re going to make it all the way. This team has got what it takes," Patten continued.

“The presence of the team is just really unified downtown and the surrounding suburbs. The way everybody comes together, the team feeds off our energy. It can’t be put into words, it’s indescribable, it really is," Leesman added.

“All season long, even during the dry days in the summer, they never really lost a drop of support," explained Jeff Stein.

The Lions played without two of their stars, Kaka and Brek Shea, both out for yellow card violations.

Orlando City had to win Friday night, and has to win next week to have any chance of catching the Montreal Impact for the last playoff spot.

"I believe they can because my understanding is that Montreal’s schedule is a little tougher than ours down the stretch, so our hopes are high. I think our changes are good," Leesman said.

However, if the Montreal Impact wins either of their two final games, they will eliminate Orlando City from playoff contention.

Orlando City’s last and most important match of the season will be Sunday, Oct. 25 in Philadelphia against the Union.
