7A District 7 showdown between Lakeland and Winter Haven had all the makings of a playoff affair.

Lakeland hadn't dropped a set in district play all year. Until tonight. Lakeland came out flat and paid the price, dropping the first set to Winter Haven, 25-19.

It was a tale of the two sets.

The first set loss sparked the Lakeland squad.

The Dreadnaughts set sail in the second set, jumping out to a ten-point lead and winning, 25-8.

The third set was the most competitive of the night, with the Dreadnaughts outdueling the Blue Devils, 25-21.

Dreadnaughts senior middle hitter Mariesha "Mo" Williams was the BHSN Player of the Game, finishing the night with 13 blocks and 6 blocks.

Set four, enter the closer.

Junior outside hitter Heather Goodman was an impressive force in the front row helping the Dreadnaughts finish off the Blue Devils, 25-15.

Lakeland improves to 22-5 and advances to face the winner of the 7A District 8 champion.
